Free help with legal forms ― In Vancouver, Richmond, and Surrey, volunteers from the Amici Curiae Friendship Society (AC) can help you prepare forms for family law cases. The volunteers will help complete the documents but don’t provide legal advice.
AC also helps with temporary foreign workers from countries where divorce isn’t allowed (such as the Philippines). The volunteers can help with the forms to apply for an uncontested BC Supreme Court divorce if people have children back home they want to sponsor for permanent residency in Canada. At least one volunteer at each workshop speaks Filipino.
Workshops run on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. You need to make an appointment first. Each appointment is one hour long. The help is free no matter what your financial situation is.
See Legal Forms Workshops for Self-Represented Litigants in BC for a complete list of the documents that AC can help with, the times and locations of workshops, and more.
